Food Trucks in the Iowa Great Lakes
FOOD TRUCKS IN THE
IOWA GREAT LAKES

Brand new to the area this year, all though you may recognize the owner. Mike was the owner and operator of Farm to Fork Food Truck. He sold that and decided to focus on his passion...BBQ! During the summer he will be open on Fridays and Saturdays, check out his facebook page for locations and hours.
Once you try his brisket, one of the best sellers, you will dream of it at your party! You are in luck, catering is available, anything from weddings, graduations, to small gatherings.
"Pretty great to walk up and be greeted by name! The "Under the Influence" sandwich was tasty and the meat was tender and juicy!"
"There are no strangers here, only friends you haven't met yet"
– Mike

"Can something actually be this good and healthy at the same time," says nearly everyone that tries their first açai bowl. You can find this fun trailer all around the Iowa Great Lakes region—from Sibley to Spencer to Estherville and all over the Lakes Area, including Spirit Lake, Okoboji, Arnolds Park and Milford. Check their Facebook page to see where they are today. Their best seller is a healthy frozen (never blended) sorbet based bowl topped with granola, fruit, seeds/nuts and more. Your choice! You will join the rest and saying this scrumptious bowl just can't be healthy, can it? OH, BUT IT IS!

You will have to stay up late for this one! Charlie's Taco Truck parks near the bars in Arnolds Park on Friday and Saturday nights from 10 pm – 2 am. Charlie's Tacos brings you flavorful authentic Tacos from Mexico, including quesadillas, nachos, burritos and much more! Did I mention the burritos are "ginormous?" It is hard to pick just one thing when you also have the street tacos people are raving about!

Under new owners this year, they will be open from Spring to Fall located mostly at Okoboji Brewing Company on Monday, Thursday and Friday from 5 – 8 pm and all day on Saturday. Like and follow their Facebook page to see any days they may just pop up around the area.
A quote from a very happy customer: "Tried the jalapeno poppers and they were incredible! I had the bacon jelly hamburger and IT WAS PHENOMENAL! I can't wait to try more of their delicious creations! I am a true fan!"

What is better than a grilled cheese sandwich? A Girl'd Cheese! From Buffalo Chicken to Margherita Pizza to the fan's favorite Philly Cheesesteak, and that is just to name a few. These sandwiches have hit the Iowa Great Lakes Area by storm. They are found mostly parked at West O but you can find them other places in the Lakes area as well. Check out their Facebook for their hours and locations. A note from a very happy customer: "Girl'd Cheese hit it out of the park with a creative and tastefully designed menu + very friendly service! I loved the spicy sweet potato and my husband loved the jalepeno. We can't wait to go back. 5 stars!"

Nektar just made Okoboji summers better! This trailer is parked just a hop and a skip from the Arnolds Park Amusement Park at 612 S. Highway 71, Arnolds Park. This food truck offers fresh-pressed juices, espresso drinks, fruit smoothies and baked treats.
"Why can't I make toast this good?! Seriously, there's secret ingredients, like fairy dust, sprinkled on these things! Delicious. Thank you!"

"Where the pigs eat the vegetables so you don't have to." You will find this food truck in a few different spots during the summer. On Thursday, they are in Estherville and on Friday in Spencer. On Saturday and Sunday, they will be located in Spirit Lake. Can't get enough of it? They do catering as well.

On the corner of Hwy 86 and 71 just west of Spirit Lake (Vick's Corner), you will find this food truck during the summer months serving up barbeque from 11 am - 7 pm Wednesday through Sunday. Their brisket is very popular and loved by all. A local favorite is the pork sundae. Curious? You have to go try it.
They are only open during the summer months, but available all year long for catering.

"Chicken and waffles on a stick is genius! And so delicious!! Great job Waffle Chix." Words from just one of many very happy customers.
Waffle Chix is famous around the country! You can find them in Arnolds Park on Broadway, Wednesday through Friday afternoons and evenings. Also on weekends and holidays they are open late. They have a second truck that is visiting state fairs and large county fairs across the nation. Which does include Iowa's State Fair and Clay County Fair.
If you haven't tried one yet, there is no better time than the present!
I wouldn't call this a "Lake Life Review," but I believe Max could give you a review for each of these trucks, more on that later. Due to our past couple of months and how things were open and closed and everywhere in between, we were not able to do a true review. About a week before this issue needed to go to the printer, the team was sitting in my office trying to think if there would be any possibility of doing a review. It was close to lunch and we must have all been hungry. We started discussing different food trucks that we have in the area—sharing our likes of each to those that haven't tried a particular one. We thought, maybe we should do a review on all these trucks. I reminded them of the looming deadline and said we would have to visit them all today in order to get this wrapped up. Tara raised a very viable concern, "how can we eat that much food in one afternoon?" She also had a bigger concern in mind, she needs to fit in her wedding dress in less than two weeks. So, we decided instead to send Max to talk with these owners and see what they have to offer, their best sellers and where our readers might find them during the summer. Max returned with great information and a very full stomach. I believe he would recommend doing a food truck tour of your own, but maybe spreading it out for more than one afternoon. However you choose to try, we guarantee you will not be disappointed.
