The Start of Their Greatest Adventure Ever
Amongst the peaceful, beautiful backdrop of Round Lake Winery and Vineyards, Isaac and Ally Lundgren have experienced some of their most memorable moments.
“Our wedding rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception were all held at Round Lake Winery & Vineyards, a place that holds special meaning to us,” Ally Lundgren shared. “It’s where Isaac proposed a year earlier, and we fell in love with the unique charm and beauty of the property. It truly felt like the perfect location for our big day!”
From their engagement to their wedding, the luscious vineyard in Round Lake, MN has captured a huge place in their heart.
The Beginning
Isaac Lundgren and Ally Morreim first met through mutual friends during the summer of 2021. Enjoying everything about Okoboji summers, boating with friends on the beautiful blue waters of West Lake Okoboji was the beginning of their friendship.
At the time, Ally was a junior at Minnesota State University in Mankato, and she spent her summers working as a waitress back home in Spirit Lake.
“We clicked instantly!” she said. “From that moment on, we were inseparable, spending every day together and quickly realizing how much we had in common. What started as a fun summer connection, turned into something much deeper and we’ve been together ever since.”
The couple quickly discovered they shared a love for the outdoors, a passion for traveling, and a deep affection for their dogs. They also bonded over their mutual appreciation for great films and their enthusiasm for all things Minnesota Vikings. Both are driven by strong morals, values, and goals. While Ally is often described as outgoing with a great sense of humor, Isaac is seen as more reserved and thoughtful.
“From the start, we’ve been captivated by each other’s personalities!” the couple exclaimed. “Isaac has the calm, driven presence that perfectly complements Ally’s energy. We’ve also both seamlessly integrated into each other’s families that have only made our relationship stronger.”
The Engagement
Isaac and Ally’s most special moments took place almost a year apart, both happening at Round Lake Winery and Vineyard. On August 19, 2023, on a hot summer day, the couple were having lunch with Isaac’s siblings before heading to a summer concert in Okoboji. After they finished eating, they went for a tour of the vineyard, and as Isaac and Ally turned around, she was met with the biggest surprise she could have ever imagined.
“I was completely in shock, having never even tried on a ring before, but everything was perfect. It was a day we’ll never forget!” Ally said.
Isaac had Ally’s engagement ring specially designed with her mother Karen’s help at Spirit Lake Silver & Gold. He knew Ally wore yellow gold jewelry and liked simplicity.
“They brought out different styles, cuts, and clarity of diamonds, and he decided on a beautiful oval,” she shared. “I also got Isaac’s custom wedding band at Silver & Gold, along with my wedding band, too. We couldn’t recommend them enough.”
Planning Their Dream Wedding
Ally found Pinterest to be her go-to for countless wedding ideas. She also relied on social media or word of mouth for research, especially when it came to finding local vendors.
“We didn’t hire any outside help for planning our wedding,” Ally said. She had the benefit of having several friends who were upcoming brides-to-be, and her sister Shelby had gotten married the summer prior, so she was familiar with the planning process.
It was an easy decision on where to have their wedding, as the Round Lake Winery and Vineyard already held special memories for them as a couple. Ally shared how Mason Ellenbecker, Banquet Manager, and Scott Ellenbecker, owner of Round Lake Winery & Vineyards, and their entire team were exceptional behind the scenes.
“They went above and beyond during the planning process and on our wedding day to ensure everything was seamless and professional, making our day even more special. We couldn’t have asked for a better team to help bring our vision to life.” Isaac and Ally both said.
From floral arrangements to bridesmaid’s dresses, Ally chose neutral tan and champagne tones as the base, complimenting Isaac’s olive-green tux. Then she chose pops of blush and gold to keep the day fresh and vibrant.
“We knew we wanted something unique and different—we wanted to make our own signature mark,” Ally explained. “The result was the perfect blend of a neutral yet elegant summer vibe.”
Isaac designed his suit with Hanson’s Clothing out of Spencer. The couple had the opportunity to sit down together and personalize every detail of the suit, from the fabric to the embroidered touches, including their wedding date, names, and other special details. The groomsmen, ushers, and both fathers’ tuxes also came from Hanson’s.
Finding the dream dress isn’t always easy, but Ally said Denice Schoelerman at Grand Bridal in Spencer was amazing to work with.
Ally wore the “Sydney” wedding dress from Evie Young, which was elegant with a square neck. It was fitted and had a statement of simplicity, as well as a delicate pearl bead trim on the shoulder straps, bodice, waistband and train.
“My mom actually discovered my wedding dress at Grand Bridal first,” Ally added. “The dress was so unique that no one had seen anything like it, and as soon as I tried it on, we knew it was the one! Denice was great to work with. And she does her own alterations!”
The Wedding Day
August 17, 2024, was an absolute perfect day for Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Lundgren! The bridesmaids and Ally arrived at Round Lake close to 8 a.m. to begin hair and makeup, which was done by Shelby Nasby, Heather Carson, and Madison Rader; all ladies from Euphoria Salon in Okoboji.
A special treat during this time came via Becca Carlson from B Fused Permanent Jewelry, who joined the bridal party in the Bridal Suite. Ally gifted her bridesmaids, her mother Karen and mother-in-law Lisa a bracelet or anklet as a special keepsake.
After lunch, Isaac and Ally shared their “first look” overlooking the vineyard and exchanged personal vows with each other. Ally then shared another heartfelt “first look” with her father, Dick, creating more forever moments.
Kylie Johnston of Kylie Clare Photography oversaw the photos for the day, while Katie Van Zee from Indigo Row Floral Design created beautiful bouquets and floral arrangements. A special bouquet charm was added to Ally’s bridal bouquet in memory of her grandparents. “A special shout-out to our photographer, Kylie Johnston, who was incredibly organized and kept us on schedule all day. Her talented, calm, fun, and reassuring presence made her the perfect choice for our wedding, and we’re so glad we booked with her,” Ally said.
The ceremony started at 4 p.m., with Pastor Clint Loveall officiating, followed by cocktail hour at 4:30 p.m. and the reception at 5:30 p.m. Everything took place at Round Lake Winery and Vineyards, which Ally said made everything convenient. They also provided shuttles to ensure transportation was easy for all their guests.
The meal was mouth-watering for everyone attending. For appetizers, there was bruschetta and caprese skewers. The main entrees showcased Prime Rib and Cordon Bleu Chicken, salad, rosemary baby red potatoes and seasonal vegetables. For dessert, the couple choose delicious cheesecake bites from Simply Sweet Cheesecake. “Round Lake Vineyard did a terrific job catering our wedding,” Ally said. “Even more, they provided a late night snack; we had brick oven pizzas for everyone!”
The dance floor and photo booth was lively all night, and the evening ended with a fun sparkler send-off!
“We were blessed with beautiful weather throughout the entire weekend,” Ally added. “We are beyond grateful to all our vendors—each one was professional, dependable, and on top of every detail. Thanks to their dedication, everything went off without a hitch. The day ran flawlessly, with no hiccups or surprises, and everyone far exceeded our expectations. We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.”
Advice for Future Newlyweds
Ally said it can be easy to get caught up in the current trends or even outside opinions, but one of the factors in planning your dream day is knowing who you are as a couple.
“You need to stay true to your vision and always remember that your wedding day is about you and your partner,” she added. “Focus on what feels right for you both and what will make you the happiest.”
The wedding day is also filled with lots of moving parts and the Lundgren’s shared the importance of delegation, especially with those you trust the most. “You don’t have to do it all yourself. Trust your wedding party, family, and vendors to help execute your vision,” Ally shared. “A good support system will take a lot of stress off your plate.”
The other important factor they shared was the importance of selecting reputable vendors. There are lots of different options available, and the Lundgren’s reiterated the significance of hiring vendors who understand your vision and you feel comfortable with. “Their expertise and reliability will make a world of difference in ensuring your day runs smoothly,” Ally added.
Most of all, Ally reminded future brides to enjoy the process and to always look for moments to enjoy along the way. “Celebrate small victories along the way and take time to appreciate the journey toward your big day,” she said.
After a dreamy honeymoon in Costa Rica, Isaac returned to his company with ASI Contracting and Ally works in marketing at Northwest Bank. They feel so blessed to wake up each morning as Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Lundgren!
